LEFT: Local band Dorfus Crack Tractor opened up RockFest with some good ol' Rock'n'Roll
then took their seats at the judges table to make the tough decision on which
bands would take home the prize money from RockFest. They also gave each band
a critique of their performance and did a great job of treating each band fairly
with stage time allowed. The bands in return made several comments to the crowd
acknowledging their appreciation for how well the event was run and judged. BAND MEMBERS pictured (l-r) are Kevin Noland of Medicine Lodge, Justin Rugg of Hazelton and David Fasgold, Medicine Lodge. |
RIGHT: The Kiowa Community Building was a rockin' place Saturday, June 24, as KPAK-97.5
hosted the first RockFest celebration. |
ABOVE: One of the early performing bands was Vainly Conceited, which featured Kiowa
native Dane Mitchell on vocals. |
BELOW: The crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger as the evening went along, with fans
showing their appreciation for 12 straight hours of gutty performances by 20
outstanding bands. |
ABOVE: A few of the several activities enjoyed by young and old at RockFest were the water
slide (top), rock climbing wall (top right) sponsored by the Kansas National
Guard, and human bowling (above). There were lots of vendors, too, selling everything
from pizza and BBQ to T-shirts and everyting inbetween. |
